Well, I don’t really know how I could have been so lucky but right when I was near the end of my savings a wonderful career found me. Yes, it found ME.
Backing up a bit - I don’t enjoy job interviews so the prospect of needing to participate in this act was weighing heavily on my mind since the start of this year. My shop has never been able to support itself so the slow drain on my finances left me with few options.
Now here’s the good part: Before I could even make a move, an opportunity just fell into my lap! In a chance meeting with the CEO of a small corporation, I was informed of my qualification of a position he needed to fill. Of course I didn’t believe this to be true at first, but the more I researched it I learned it was for real.

Fast forward to the present: I’ve been traveling to Milwaukee and NY writing the software they need to get things done. Sorry for being so vague, but I’m sworn to secrecy.
Anyway, it’s nice to not worry so much about how I’m going to pay rent this month…etc I just have to worry about learning all their systems and software.

My friend’s Dad graduated from the school of life a few weeks ago. I’m very glad I got to see him a couple of times recently before he checked out. He reminded me a little bit of my own Grandpa, all kinds of interesting stories from back in the day… I’ll miss him.
A week and a half ago I joined my friend, his brothers, and sister in a group burial at sea. By group I mean my friend’s Dad, his wife, and two dogs! …The later cremated years ago. We all went out on a small sport fishing boat and scattered the ashes together just like they had wanted, it was beautiful!

Earlier this month I was flown first class to Milwaukee to meet the owner of an engineering firm, and to attend an entree level class at the Johnson Controls Institute. The owner “Tom” is having trouble finding qualified people to program a state of the art piece of gear he uses on most of his projects and wanted me to see if it’s something I’d want to get involved in as a side career.
Tom turned out to be a cool guy and the piece of gear I learned about is very very powerful. You can plug your laptop right into this thing and make it control any electrical components you want! Pretty freakin trippy if you ask me… More on that as things evolve.

The balance of February was spent moving my entire shop to it’s new location. Not a small feat, it took most of the month, but it was well worth it. The sounds of running machinery now fill the new place as I try to save the planet one green invention at a time. More on this later.

Well it’s 3 pm and I promised my neighbor I’d give him a ride to the auto parts store.

It was a good visit.

I’ve been so busy this month. Just about every part of my life is in flux.
The new shop came complete with a ton of garbage, literally. To further complicate things there was also many interesting and sell-able items within the piles that covered the warehouse floor. Because of all the crap, I got the warehouse free for the rest of this month. Glad I asked for the free time. It will take that long to sort and clear it all out.

Before I can start moving my stuff in, security needs to be upgraded. A trip to the locksmith today got lock number two working again, but there’s still more to be done in that department.

Another thing preventing move-in was the trailer hitch on my car. All the use and abuse over the years had caused one of the supports to separate. Good thing I know a good welder… Me!
I fired up the old MIG today and ZAP …check another obstacle off the list.

My Internet connection keeps going in and out. It hasn’t been the same since the last two thunder storms hit on Tuesday and Wednesday. I can’t update my websites or write this blog without one.
